2004 TOM EDDY CABERNET SAUVIGNON SINGLE VINEYARD G-1 BLOCK (STAGECOACH VINEYARD)
3.0L SPECIALLY ETCHED FOR OUR 20TH ANNIVERSARY

Before starting the family wine company in 1989, Tom had been winemaker for some of the largest and smallest wineries in California. A published author and recognized winery expert, Tom’s personal stamp of winemaking and winery construction have influenced much of the Napa and Sonoma Valleys. As the winemaker and owner of Tom Eddy Winey, Tom’s passion and dedication to excellence in his wine is ongoing. No wonder - his name is on the bottle! This is a very rare and unique bottling and the first time it has ever been shown to the public. This is the only 3.0L (very tall) bottle of its kind and specially etched for our 20th Anniversary Winemasters evening. The entire production for the Single Vineyard G-1 Block Cabernet is extremely small (the equivalent of less than 18 cases) and all the wine is bottled in 3.0L formats (53 bottles total). G-1 block of the famed Stagecoach vineyard is only a single row, located at the top of the vineyard on Atlas Peak at the 1400-foot elevation. It is 100% Cabernet and was aged three years in 100% new French oak and an additional two years in bottle. Reflecting the structure and depth of this mountain terroir, it is dark, brooding and opulent, while manifesting the elegance and length that reflect Tom’s meticulous winemaking and barrel aging methodology.

2005 CHATEAU HAUT-BRION
6.0L (IMPERIAL)

2005 is universally regarded as one of the finest Bordeaux vintages in history. And Chateau Haut-Brion is among the most coveted of the vintage. Haut-Brion is considered one of the world’s greatest and most individual estates with Jean-Phillipe Delmas at the winemaking helm representing the 3rd consecutive generation of the Delmas family to hold that position. James Lawther (Decanter), Jancis Robinson and Farr Vintners (London) all rated it 20 points on a 20-point scale. James Suckling (Wine Spectator) awarded it a perfect 100 Robert Parker awarded 98 points and Steven Tanzer awarded 97 points. Perhaps James Suckling summed it best when he said, “I am in awe when I taste this. Good God. What a nose.” Surely one of the greatest wines ever produced by this venerable estate and one of the greatest wines of this heralded vintage. Powerful yet elegant, expressive in both the nose and palate, dense, rich, and classic are all descriptors commonly used to describe this magnificent wine. Production of the 2005 Haut-Brion was substantially less than other previous vintages further enhancing the value of this very rare Imperial.

2001–2005 DOMAINE DE LA ROMANEE CONTI LA TACHE
1 BOTTLE EACH (5 total)
VERTICAL COLLECTION

Domaine de la Romanee Conti has long been considered one of the greatest wine producing estates not only in the esteemed Burgundy appellation, but of the world. DRC’s reds emanate from six Grand Cru vineyards and only two are from Monopoles – La Tache and Romanee Conti. Pedigree, unsurpassed quality and consistency are the hallmarks of this revered estate. The vineyard we now know as La Tache was originally owned in the early 19th Century by Louis Liger-Belair, one of Napoleon’s generals, and sold to the Domaine in 1936. It was then combined with their adjacent vineyard Les Gaudichots to create the Grand Cru monopole La Tache. La Tache has always exhibited great breed and elegance combined with shear power and longevity. Consistently rated in the classic range by both new and old world wine authorities, La Tache is one of the cherished wines of the world and rarely seen in such a vertical collection as this.

OWN A PIECE OF ANTINORI HISTORY
1985 ANTINORI SEICENTENAIO
1 MAGNUM

In 1385 Giovanni di Piero Antinori joined “Arte dei Vinattien” as an apprentice wine merchant in old Florence. Since then, the Antinori family has passed on their love for wine through the generations ever increasing the levels of quality both in the vineyard and winery. Marchesi Antinori, under the family’s guidance, has grown with this extraordinary accumulation of experience and tradition over 600 years to be a world leader. Antinori Seicentenaio was born to celebrate 600 years of Marchesi Antinori and to summarize the Antinori family’s philosophy in the long history of the famed producer. To honor the 600th anniversary, this great wine was released in 1985 as a future and is blended from the great Chianti vintages of 1982 (depth and structure) and 1985 (celebrating the anniversary with elegance). It demonstrates the exceptional quality of the terroir coupled with the tradition developed by the Antinori family over these many centuries. This is a feminine wine exhibiting beautiful spice with strawberry, bracing tannins and a long finish. The production is limited and in magnum only, and the wine shows itself in a distinguished style with elegance and structure. It is a true long-lived example of the finest that Chianti and Antinori are capable of producing. The label has been designed to reproduce the membership certificate of Giovanni di Piero Antinori to Arte dei Vinattieri in 1385 and thus serves to commemorate the 600 years of the family ownership of this venerable and revered property.

Then, discover Veneto by spending your holiday exploring this magnificent and diverse region:
Three nights between sea and land: choose one Villa with easy access to Venice or stay in the Venice city center, the symbol of culture and elegance. The Venetian mainland is extremely fascinating for its Museums and Villas along the Brenta Riviera, built and decorated by masters of the Italian Art. From here, you can easily visit Chioggia, a quaint village called “little Venice” and the province of Rovigo with the largest protected wetland area in Italy. Just a short drive north-east, you’ll fine the “Red Wine Route along the Piave River,” featuring many renowned wine cellars where you will be able to taste the typical food and wine of this area. Moreover, this route leads you directly to the colorful province of Treviso.

Two nights between art and tastes: why not stay in Treviso, the graceful “city of water”? Treviso is known for its frescoed palace façades of the palaces and numerous examples of Venetian Villas. Called “the Garden of Venice” thanks to beautiful landscapes and gardens, this city and the surrounding province are rich in history and art, and very famous for their food and wine tradition. Numerous palaces still display the ancient Hapsburg influence in Trieste (another nearby city), and don’t forget to stop and admire two of the most famous Palladio’s villas: Villa Emo and Villa Barbero, the architect’s masterpieces. Our 2008 winning bidders enjoyed Villa Barberino (www.villabarberino.it), an 18th century Venetian Villa in the heart of the stunning Prosecco wine country.
Three nights between architecture and poetry: to complete your tour among the beauties of the region, spend one day in Padua, the oldest Italian University city. Through its beautiful medieval center you will admire stunning old palaces, historical squares with colorful markets and the world-famous Scrovegni Chapel, painted by Giotto in 14th-Century. Our 2008 winners stayed at the majestic Villa Italia in Padua (
www.villaitaliapadova.it). Just a few minutes away, the Euganean Hills (Colli Euganei) offer exclusive Roman thermal baths where you can enjoy a very relaxing day. You can also have a stroll around the medieval hamlet of Arquà Petrarca, designated as one of Italy’s most beautiful towns, where the famous 14th-century poet Petrarca spent his last days writing his unforgettable love poems. 2009 marks the 500th anniversary of Palladio’s birth. Therefore you cannot miss a visit to Vicenza, Palladio’s hometown where you will admire some of its extraordinary masterpieces expressing his great genius and originality, including “La Rotonda”, the most beautiful example of Venetian Villa. Another fundamental stop is Verona, Romeo and Juliet’s city. Juliet’s house and a stunning Arena, home of the city’s worldwide famous Opera, will fascinate you. The whole province is characterized by suggestive landscapes such as the hills of Soave and the Valpolicella Red Wine Route, spotted by many medieval castles and cellars. Finally, take some time to relax on the banks of Lake Garda, surrounded by Mediterranean colors (and climate), medieval churches and villages, and famous archaeological sites. Last year’s winning bidders enjoyed Locanda San Vigilio (www.locanda-sanvigilio.it), a magnificent palatial estate on the shore of Lake Garda.
Wherever you go, the choice is yours. Your holiday is complete with American Airlines renowned international Business Class service to and from any American Airlines European destination.

THE CHAIRMEN’S LOT

Our deepest gratitude to Honorary Wine Chairman Pam Starr, Honorary Culinary Chairman Josiah Citrin and Brenda and Gerry Schwartz for creating this singular dinner.
A party of eight is invited to join Winemasters sponsors and long-time wine collectors Brenda and Gerry Schwartz in their magnificent Santa Monica home for a truly memorable dinner showcasing wine, food and music. Michelin-star chef and restaurateur Josiah Citrin will prepare his traditional French cuisine with American sensibilities, resulting in a truly extraordinary sensory experience. A Mobil Travel Guide 4-star recipient 8 years running, Josiah has a reputation for coaxing exquisite flavors out of unlikely pairings and embracing fine dining in the casual culture of Southern California. Little wonder that Mélisse has been voted Zagat’s #1 Top Food in Los Angeles with the #1 Wine List in Los Angeles. Josiah’s dinner will showcase a variety of products from Sonoma Artisan Foie Gras whose hand-crafted duck meat products are featured in the most celebrated venues in the country, satisfying discerning palates of chefs, professionals and everyday connoisseurs alike. Tonight’s winning bidder will receive a “goodies” basket from Sonoma Artisan Foie Gras.
Pam Starr has been making some of the best wines in Napa Valley since the mid-'80s.  After stints at Sonoma-Cutrer, Edna Valley, and Carmenet she made her big mark in the '90s at Spottswoode, where the 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon was cited by Robert Parker for its "Chateau Margaux-like elegance".  Pam struck out on her own in 1997 and founded a partnership with Charlie Crocker to resurrect an 1870’s winery in St. Helena. Their commitment to sustainable and organic farming techniques coupled with cutting edge winemaking tools and guided by expert hands have combined the best of both old world philosophy and new world fruit. All of Pam’s wines, the Estate Cabernet Sauvignon “Stone Place”, the Estate Cabernet Franc, and Sauvignon Blanc are yours to enjoy with Josiah’s legendary cuisine. Not only will you delight in Pam’s wines, but Mélisse sommelier Brian Kalliel will also pour a dazzling array of rare old world wines from Mélisse’s famed wine cellar. Both Pam and Josiah will guide your party through this stellar epicurean evening.

But there’s more! How about a concert just for your listening pleasure? Singer/guitarist Michael Sullivan delivers an organic, low-key, oh-so-smooth disc that benefits from musicianship that, while subtle, has an expert touch. Nominated for Independent Male Singer/Songwriter of the Year by Los Angeles Music Awards, Music Connection Magazine says, “Fans of Dave Matthews, Jack Johnson and John Mayer will love Michael Sullivan.”
Tonight’s winning bidder will take home a magnum of 2005 Crocker & Starr Cabernet Sauvignon “Stone Place” and a magnum of Crocker & Starr Cabernet Franc. Valid to 5/16/10, at a mutually agreeable time.

2006 CROCKER & STARR CABERNET SAUVIGNON “STONE PLACE”
3.0L HAND ETCHED AND HAND PAINTED

Crocker & Starr Wines is a partnership between an historic vineyard on the south side of St Helena and a highly respected winemaker. Charlie Crocker owns the vineyard that has grown grapes since 1870. Pam Starr is the winemaker who is focused on capturing the essence of the terroir in her wines. For Pam fine wine is like great music – there is “a rhythm and energy that travels the journey from the grape to the glass.” And Pam’s winemaking philosophy is quite simple as she sees herself as a “vine interpreter,” capturing the greatest personality from the vineyard and translating its perfectly ripe grapes into powerful and balanced wines that rock and roll. Pam just celebrated her 25th harvest and everything she has learned along the way has come together in the creation of this “Stone Place” Cabernet Sauvignon named after the 19th century stone winery on the Crocker Estate. This flagship wine is a true expression of the estate grown classic Bordeaux blend with great St. Helena Appellation fruit and a California twist. The 2006 “Stone Place” Cabernet Sauvignon is primarily old vine cabernet blended with a bit of old vine merlot. It literally sings with expressions of dark fruit blended against a massive structure that expresses both power and elegance together. The wine is sensual yet in harmony with the intense characteristics of the vintage. Like many fine wines that speak of place rather than formula, “Stone Place” Cabernet Sauvignon will vary somewhat in composition from year to year, but can always be seen as the vineyard’s expression of the vintage as interpreted by Pam Starr. All of this vinous pleasure is beautifully wrapped up for you in this singular 3.0L bottle hand etched and hand painted especially for “Winemasters” 2009.

The winner will also take home tonight a 3.0L bottle of 2006 Garric Cabernet Sauvignon and have the opportunity to invite seven friends to enjoy lunch with Gary and Ricardo at their home in Calistoga. THE EARTH AND THE SKY – A PERFECT MARRIAGE

With its silver-domed observatory perched on the edge of the vineyard, Jaffe Estate marries the agricultural and the celestial, the earth and the sky, to create transcendent wines. Two enduring passions come together here: a lifelong fascination with astronomy and a love for the Napa Valley that began decades ago. Jaffe Estate wines originate from that profound connection to the land, the hills, the story, the sky and the rich possibility of the Napa Valley. You're not likely to come across children's toys among the rows of most Napa Valley vineyards. But Jaffe Estate is different. A family lives and plays here, in a lush, garden-like setting where something is always growing, changing, unfolding. And where someone is always looking at the stars. Situated in the St. Helena viticultural district and bounded by the Rutherford bench to the south, the Jaffe vineyard is ideally located to produce exceptional wine grapes. Its position in the middle of the St. Helena alluvial fan combined with its Bale Loam soil creates the classic conditions for producing reserve-quality red wines. If it sounds like Jaffe grapes are coddled, consider this: When your family home sits in the middle of a vineyard, you attend to the soil and the water, the budding and the leafing, the sun and the fog differently. Factor in the only private research-grade observatory in the Napa Valley standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the vines, and the powerful presence of light that has traveled inconceivable distances to reach this very spot. Suddenly, the gift of the present stands out in bright relief.
Your visit to the Jaffe estate includes a multi-course gourmet dinner for a party of eight paired with both exceptional Jaffe Estate wines plus a visit to the observatory for up-close views of star clusters, planets and other celestial sights. Tonight’s winning bidder will take home a 3.0L of 2006 Transformation Etched, Hand painted and Signed. Inspired by the wines of Bordeaux's Right Bank, this blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot is the earthier, subtler expression of the Jaffe vineyard. Transformation shares much in common with the Cabernets of the Rutherford appellation to the south, but has greater aging potential and a more profound integration of distinctive varieties. Dinner is valid to 5/16/10 at a mutually convenient time.
